Media.ge, Tbilisi, 08 Nov 2008 – On November 7 the leaders and members of the Christian-Democratic Movement gathered in front of the Imedi TV premises to mark the events dating back 2007 when the riot police raided and closed down Imedi TV following the dispersal of the anti-governmental rally in front of the Parliament building.
The Christian-Democratic Movement was founded by a number of Imedi TV journalists three months following the November 7 events.
The participants of today’s rally demanded the transfer of Imedi TV to Badri Patarkatsishvili’s widow Inna Gudavadze.
Giorgi Targamadze, former Director of Imedi TV public-political programmes and incumbent leader of parliamentary minority said that they express solidarity to everyone who still suffers the November 7 2007 events.” According to Targamadze last year the illusion “of brining welfare by the authorities having come into power through violence” has smashed.
Few days following the November 3 events general prosecutor’s office accused Imedi TV owner Badri Patarkatsishvili of an attempt to overthrow the government. Authorities considered Imedi TV as the main tool of plotting the coup.
Imedi TV resumed the news broadcasts in September 2008 though from the opposition’s point of view no more criticism towards the government is voiced through the news outlets.
