Tbilisi, Media.ge, 10 Mar 2009 – On March 10, the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) will hold a discussion in Signagi on professional journalism standards, with the participation of the members of IWPR’s Georgia Regional Media Network Project, as well as local print, television and radio journalists. Media-expert Ia Antadze and Paata Veshapidze, editor-in-chief of the newspaper 24 Hours will be attending too.
On March 11IWPR will conduct a training session in Telavi on the coverage of ethnic minorities-related issues. Beka Mindiashvili, head of the tolerance centre at the Georgian Ombudsman’s Office, will be the trainer.
As a part of the training, its participants will visit a number of villages in Kakheti densely populated by ethnic minorities. They will also meet with Giorgi Gviniashvili, governor of Kakheti.
The events are a part of the Building Bridges/Building Capacity in the South Caucasus project funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
