Documents Dating Back to Soviet Georgia Published

Media.ge, Tbilisi, 23 Jul 2008 – A presentation of the second issue of Saarkivo Moambe magazine published by the Ministry of Interior Affairs’ archival department was held at the session of the Temporary Commission on Territorial Integrity Issues. Materials dating back to Soviet Georgia that were reserved in the Committee of State Security archive and classified as “secret” were published in the magazine.

One can read the following materials in Saarkivo Moambe: how opposition was kindled in Abkhazia in the 70s, the list of the persons executed in 1924, battle against Georgian church, correspondence between Stalin and Beria, information on the exile of Germans living in Georgia.

The presentation was attended by historians, lawyers and MPs. According to Shota Malashkhia, head of the Temporary Commission on Territorial Integrity through the systematization of the archival information we shall let the world see how Russia was ruling processes in Georgia.

The archival materials are published in both English and Georgian languages. Saarkivo Moambe is not for sale. It will be distributed to scientific institutions and will be spread abroad. The magazine of the ministry of Interior Affairs is published every three months.
