Media.ge, Tbilisi, 14 Apr 2009 – The opposition set up another hot spot; in particular on April 14 the opposition put up tents so called cells at the GPB premises and blocked Kostava Street.
Speaking at the rally in front of the Parliament building David Gamkrelidze, co-leader of the Alliance for Georgia said that the GPB premises surrounding territory is going to be a new home of protest rallies and it is going to last until President Saakashvili resigns.
“It is strange but Imedi TV and Rustavi 2 broadcasting companies apportion more airtime to cover opposition rallies ongoing in Tbilisi than the public broadcaster funded by the Georgian population,” Gamkrelidze said.
Reporting to Media.ge Levan Kubaneishvili, GPB director general expressed hope that the “cells” are not meant for the television and indicates protest against the authorities.
“I don’t want to believe that the “cells” have been set up for the public broadcaster or against it even though any individual enjoys a right to show protest and make a choice where to voice it,” Levan Kubaneishvili told Media.ge.
On April 13 in the course of the rally being held in front of the Parliament building the demand on Levan Kubaneishvili’s resignation was voiced from the opposition tribune. A 24-hour term was set to the GPB board to dismiss GPB chief executor from the current position.
Yesterday the opposition encamped at the President’s Residence in Avlabari. According to radical opponents the same planned for today at the Tbilisi State University.
