Georgia: Newspaper Distribution Rate Decreased by 30% – Press Distribution Company

Media.ge, Tbilisi, 05 Jan 2009 – According to SakPress, press distribution company the sale of Georgian newspapers and magazines has decreased by approximately 30%  in the last two months. Nugzar Darchimelia, SakPress chief accountant  pointed out that the shrinking is due to the increase of retailing price by 50%.

In addition Nugzar Darchimelia reported that in comparison with the previous year the sale for the same period (January – November 2008) has improved, though scarcely. In 2008 as well as in 2007, Darchimelia said, the weekly Kviris Palitra was the best seller, the top three remains the same –  the weeklies Asaval-Dasavali, Kronika and Kviris Palitra.

As regards dailies the Alia, Rezonansi, and 24 Hours lead the list, though the rate of their sale lags behind the aforementioned weeklies’.

According to the 2007 data a slight difference was observed in the sale rate among leading newspapers.
