Media.ge, Tbilisi, 27 Nov 2008 – On November 26 Tbilisi Court of Appeals left the September 26 decision unchanged, according to which the Court ruled against the lawsuit of Hereti radio station (Lagodekhi) vs Georgian National Communications Commission (GNCC).
In its lawsuit Hereti demanded the sanction adopted by GNCC to be declared as annulled.
GNCC granted license to the broadcasting company Hereti on December 11, 2007. Afterwards, the commission fined the broadcasting company with GEL 5 000 citing the fact that Hereti conducted broadcasting prior to receiving the license as a motive. The radio station refuses the accusation.
“Through today’s decision, the court once again proved that the judiciary system in Georgia is politicized,” Ramaz Samkharadze, Radio Hereti director said, “through penalty sanctions there are attempts to exert pressure upon radio Hereti as an independent media outlet.”
According to Ramaz Samkharadze the radio station “is going to keep on fighting for the truth to the end,” the GNCC act will be appealed at the Supreme Court.
