UzA, Tashkent, 22 Sep 2008 – The traditional week of information and communication technologies InfoCom 2008 opened in Tashkent. The event organizers are the parliamentary Committee for ICT, the Cabinet’s Coordinating council for ICT development, the Uzbek Agency of Communication and Information, the UNDP ICT Policy project and the Association of IT enterprises and organizations of Uzbekistan.
The first event of the ICT Week was the international conference titled “Development of information technologies in Asia (ITPA 2008). It is being held at the Tashkent information technologies university with support of the Korean simulation society and the International scientific center of information technologies.
Deputy director general of the Uzbek Agency of Communication and Information Asadjon Hodjayev said the main purpose of the forum was to unite researchers of various disciplines, academics and interested individuals for development of information technologies in Asia, to discuss the new methods and research directions.
The participants of the two-day forum will discuss such topics as regional IT research and IT strategies, web and multimedia technologies, internet and mobile communications, available resources and standards. Seminars on resource programs, advanced computer technology, sensor networks and other issues will be held.
