Freedom of Expression Network Re-launches Web Site

Baku, CASCFEN, Oct 28, 2012 – Baku, Azerbaijan based freedom of expression watchdog – Central Asian and Southern Caucasian Freedom of Expression Network (CASCFEN) has re-launched its web site at www.cascfen.net and started news dissemination on English from around the region.

As told to press CASCFEN Chairman Azer Hasret, the Network exists starting from March 20, 2003 but could get state registration only this summer. “We are only network of this kind covering freedom of expression issues in the region of Central Asia and South Caucasus. Our organization was acting in terms of some kind of illegality while we couldn`t get state registration. Now we are registered and the Network is legal NGO with all needed attributes to act”, – said Azer Hasret.

After getting state registration CASCFEN started very actively to expand its activities and now re-launched the web site at the address of www.cascfen.net. The web site is functioning in English yet. As said the CASCFEN Chairman, this is due to need to bring more international attention to the issues with freedom of expression in the region. “We believe that international organizations sometimes face difficulties to get information from our region. This is due to language or lack of sustainable partner organization in the region. Our Network will be number one from now on in this direction. All international organizations can rely on us and we are very interested to expand partner network outside of the region as well”, – said Azer Hasret.

CASCFEN Chairman added that his organization is in the process to apply for membership to such international organizations like International Freedom of Expression eXchange (IFEX), Ethical Journalism Network, International News Safety Institute as well.
