UzA, Tashkent, 24 Sep 2008 – The session of the interdepartmental working group on examining observance by the law enforcement authorities of the human rights was held at the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.
The meeting was attended by members of the Senate and deputies of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, representatives of the Constitutional Court, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance, Lawyers Chamber of Uzbekistan, Institute for Civil Society Study and non-governmental organizations.
The event, chaired by the justice minister R.Muhitdinov, focused on improving the efficiency of the interdepartmental working group. The participants also discussed issues implementation of the National Action Plan to implement the recommendations of the UN Committee against Torture, as well as the National Plan of Action approved by the interagency working group in October 2006.
Suggestions to improve the activity of the interdepartmental working group were made. Relevant departments have been recommended on how to better implement the tasks in this direction.
