A1Plus, Yerevan, 30 Apr 2009 – Brutality against journalists continues after editor-coordinator of the Armenia Today electronic newspaper Argishti Kiviryan was severely beaten early in the morning today in front of the entrance of his house located on Nalbandyan 9.
“Three anonymous people beat with him with clubs. His received blows to the face, head, feet and there are wounds all over his body,” told “A1+” Kiviryan’s wife Lusine Sahakyan. Sahakyan heard her husband voice and heard gunshots as she came down from the 3rd floor. Fortunately, the shots missed Kiviryan.
“Argishti managed to hold the hand of the shooter and the shots fired in another direction. Argishti’s damages are from the clubs. His life is not in danger and he is undergoing check-ups. Doctors must first check his head,” said Lusine Sahakyan.
During the beating neighbors heard voices and only managed to see that there were three people beating Kiviryan. “It was dark and the neighbors couldn’t see their faces and weren’t able to describe them,” said Lusine Sahakyan.
Lusine Sahakyan is an advocate for Gagik and Vardan Jhangiryan, as well as for a number of scandalous cases. She couldn’t comment on what happened to her husband right now, but will make a statement soon.
