Media.ge, Tbilisi, 10 Nov 2008 – Independent journalists working in the regions across Georgia intend to establish an association of regional journalists. The initiative group is currently working on the association’s registration issues.
According to the members of the initiative group the goal of the association is the protection of freedom of expression and journalists’ rights. Journalists also intend to visit various Georgian regions to study and uncover local problems firsthand.
The first study visit of a kind is scheduled to take place on November 11, 2008 in Gori.
Independent journalists working in Guria, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Imereti, Samegrelo, Kakheti and Shida Kartli decided to establish the association during the meeting held in Bakuriani few days ago.
