Georgia: Training on Freedom of Information for Journalists Representing National Minorities

Media.ge, Tbilisi, 10 Nov 2008 – The Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA) with the financial support of the OSCE Mission to Georgia is to conduct training for on freedom of information for the journalists representing national minorities.

The training course will be held on November 17-18, 2008 in Gudauri. The selected participants are requested to depart on November 16. The working languages are Russian and Georgian.

The following topics are to be discussed at the training:

  • Standards for expression and freedom of information;
  • Procedures related to the provision of public information;
  • State, professional, commercial and private secrecy;
  • Appeal at the administrative body or court regarding the denial to public information.

All travel and lodging expenses will be covered by GYLA. The training participants will be awarded certificates.

The journalists willing to participate in the training are to submit their CVs in the Georgian or Russian languages to tkordzaia@gyla.ge or tchugoshvili@gyla.ge, or to the GYLA office at the following address:15, Krilov St, Tbilisi.
