IEPF, Baku, 02 Oct 2008 – International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) will prepare the book about murdered journalists in Azerbaijan. This was informed by chairman of IEPF and vice-president of the Press Council of Azerbaijan Umud Rahimoglu. Although this idea exists for a long time, realization of this plan decided to be now.
“This is not the first experience of us” said Umud Rahimoglu and added: “IEPF starts to prepare a book in respect of murdered journalists. I think we can cope with this thoroughly. Because we have enough experience. We have published more than one hundred of books in “Eurasia Press” ordered both by government and other institutions”.
IEPF plans to get assistance on collecting information from relatives and colleagues of murdered journalists during preparation of this book.
In addition we should note that, publishing a book about murdered journalists firstly decided in 2004 by Azerbaijan Journalists Confederation. However, pause, that rose in functioning of this group later prevented the realization of this idea.
It can be stated that, recently IEPF has published a book dedicated to mine victims named “These are their fates” and handbook for journalists.
Note: During 1991-2005 13 Azerbaijani (Ali Mustafayev, Osman Mirzayev, Arif Huseynzade, Fakhraddin Shahbazov, Salatin Asgerova, Chingiz Mustafayev, Kazimaga Kerimov, Adil Bunyadov, Farhad Kerimov, Telman Dibirov, Ibrahim Niyazli, Elmar Huseynov, Alim Kazimli) and 2 foreign journalists (editor of newspaper “Milostiviye Gosudari” and correspondent of radio “Mayak” Leonid Lazarevic) were killed.
