Tajikistan: Access mode to the official information becomes tougher

NANSMIT, Dushanbe, 21 Aug 2008 – The management of the different ministries and departments of Tajikistan have instructed the press-services not to come into contact with mass-media and not to give the information to journalists without the permission of the first persons. It is offered to journalists to direct them the questions beforehand and in written form.

To check this circumstance the correspondent of radio “Freedom” Zulfikori Ismoiliyon has called on August, 20th, 2008 the press-secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Qafur Rasulov. He has specified to him to address with an explanation to head of department Bahrullo Barotov. When Z.Ismoiliyon has called B.Barotov and has enquired about legitimacy of the given instructions, he at all has not wished to talk to the journalist and has hung up.

Let’s remind, that recently, on August, 9th, in Dushanbe the memorandum of cooperation between employees of state structures and mass-media on access improvement to sources of the official information has been signed. However, as practice shows, the governmental structures have on the contrary toughened an access mode to the official information.
