Today.az, Gori, 14 Aug 2008 – A camera crew of Azerbaijani ANS TV channel and tens of journalists were subjected to fire in Gori city, reports Day.Az with reference to ANS website.
According to ANS correspondent Nadir Almazoglu, visiting the Georgian city of Gori, Russian servicemen, dislocated at the entrance to Gori, did not allow them into the city.
“Russian army tanks are dislocated on all the roads in the Gori directions. There are also Kazaks among them. Tens of journalists, including officials of the International Committee of the Red Cross gathered at the entrance to the city. They are not allowed into Gori.
A control checkpoint of Georgian servicemen, where hundreds of persons and cars have gathered not allowed into Poti and Turkey, locates 60 kilometers away from the city”, noted Almasoghlu.
He said that a fire exchange occurred during their staying at the entrance after which a Niva car with four Russian soldiers came up to them.
“They attacked the camera crew of one of the countries and took their camera away and then they used force in putting a correspondent and a cameraman into Mercedes and carried them away in an unknown direction.
Fire exchange occurred again. We, the journalists, got on the cars and directed to Tbilisi. On the way we saw two elderly women and men, who were too exhausted. They told us that after military operation started, they ran away from Tskhinvali, feeding only on fruits on their way.
They asked the camera crew to carry them to Tbilisi and ANS journalists agreed to it”, concluded Almazoglu.
