Georgia: Photo Exhibition Depicting Russian Aggression to be held

Media.ge, Tbilisi, 17 Oct 2008 – Imedi TV Company reports that photo exhibition depicting Russian aggression and ethnic cleansing will be held in Tbilisi in the nearest future.

Citing Georgian reporters Imedi TV states that Russian press services are forging photos taken by Georgian photo reporters in Gori bombed by Russian aviation. Photos of Gori posted on the internet are titled as “Tskhinvali”.

“I saw these photos on MAIL.RU and I was bewildered by the photo comments which suggested that genocide took place in Tskhinvali. These photos published by Russian website were taken by my friends in Gori’, – declares photo reporter of Georgian Times newspaper Sergo Belorusov in the interview with Imedi TV.

Another photo reporter Gia Abdaladze states in the interview with Imedi TV that his and his friends’ works were published on front pages of the world’s leading newspapers and magazines.

His photos posted on the internet were initially commented as: ‘Georgian photo reporters are staging scenes. These photos are forged’.

As Gia Abdaladze states he was willing to take measures regarding the fact, but representatives of Associated Press advised him not to, as the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) was involved in it.

State Minister for Reintegration Issues Temur Iakobashvili declared in a television interview that Russia is trying to “promote photos taken in Georgian villages and in Gori as photos taken in Tskhinvali and Java”.

According to him, Georgian side intends to undertake serious works for Georgia to “send its truth abroad”.
