Georgia: Best Gender Reporting Pieces Awarded at Two Side

Media.ge, Tbilisi, 22 Jul 2008 – GPB journalist Rusudan Loladze, radio Liberty journalist Jimsher Rekhviashvili and the Georgian daily Rezonansi journalist Eka Gulua have been recognized as winners of the Best Gender Reporting contest.

The contest was organized within the framework of the Gender and Politics in South Caucasus project, being implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) with the financial support of the Georgian government.

“We are pleased that the Georgian media showed interest in the gender balance topic, one of the crucial issues for human development,” UNDP Assistant Resident Representative Matilda Dimovska said at the Restaurant Two Side having hosted the awards ceremony.

The contest was held for the second time now. Speaking at the awards ceremony the organizers stated that they would like the Gender and Politics in South Caucasus to turn into an annual contest. The next year contest will recognize the best gender-related pieces published or televised in 2008.
