Tbilisi, CASCFEN, 01.11.2012 – Journalists of Tabula magazine will start a new TV channel, while the print edition will transform into a monthly magazine, instead of weekly, according to Chief Editor Tamara Chergoleishvili. Speaking at a press briefing Tuesday, Ms. Chergoleishvili said the new TV company – the name of the channel still has to be defined – has acquired the broadcasting license from the former Defense Ministry’s TV “Sakartvelo” and will go on air in mid-January.

“It will be a news channel and we will work with former members of the government, “- Chergoleishvili told media. The yet unnamed TV channel was founded by “Civil Education Fund”, the founder of Tabula magazine. One of the founders is also former Economy Minister Kakha Bendukidze, who will be among those who will finance the new TV channel.

“There are several versions for the name of the TV channel, which will be determined in consultation with focus groups,” Chergoleishvili said during press conference. “Now I can say we will definitely be keeping some kind of connection with the name of the “Tabula” magazine”, – said Tamara Chergoleishvili.
